What you'll do

You’ll love what you do and take pride in delighting our guests:

  • You will be responsible to scheduled preventative maintenance in guest rooms, and/or guest corridors as required, including but not limited to carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, minor electrical and finish works.
  • Ensuring that all necessary hardware and appliances are present in the guest room and in working order. Repairing carpets and upholstery, touch-up painting, touch-up furniture, replacing filters, light fixtures, and inspecting and repairing grout and caulking.
  • Maintain, repair, and clean all guest rooms in accordance with the property room preventative maintenance procedures and standard guidelines to ensure our guests receive nothing but the best experience.
  • You’ll also follow guest room preventive maintenance checklist to individually complete rooms preventative maintenance process for guest rooms in efficient and effective manner.
  • Maintain engineering area is safe, kept clean and in an orderly manner.
  • Report any serious maintenance problems, unusual findings, or safety hazards immediately to the manager/supervisor.

  • You will comply with the departmental/corporate SOP & LSOP.
  • Will ensure implementation of Dorchester Collection Policies, Standards and Procedures in relation to Engineering fairly and consistently.
  • Will be aware of all existing departmental job safety analysis and strive to work in an accident-free manner and to create a safe working environment for self and for others.

The items shared are the essence of a day in the life of a Guest Room Technician but we’ll make sure you are provided with specifics on how we care for our hotel.

What you'll bring

  • You’ll bring your unique personality and passion to the role and the team. Technical Trade Course Certificate in Electronic/Electrical/Mechanics/HVAC-R or related. Vocational Certificate/Diploma or equivalent. Technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/Mechanical/plumbing.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in facility management with minimum 1 year in international 5-star Hotel luxury brand.
  • Ideally a minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in a Guest Rooms Technician or similar role.
  • You have a talent for good understanding of Carpentry/Masonry and Electrical, Air conditioning, Plumbing systems, and Demonstrated knowledge of electrical Tools and Instrumentation.
  • Equipment trends, maintenance, and installation. Excellent ability to verbally communicate with guests (and co-workers) to resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to Troubleshoot and perform basic repair of in-room equipment, fixtures & appliances.
  • Communication is what keeps our departments running perfectly. You have great communication skills with a strong customer service ethic.
  • English is the primary language used in our hotel. You can comfortably communicate in this language.
