As an Area Director of Finance at The Beverly Hills Hotel and Hotel Bel-Air, your compensation will range between $200,000-$220,000 annually.

A day in the life of our Area Director of Finance… it demands high levels of energy in order to keep up. They need consistency even though the days are never alike; and creativity to tackle daily adventures. Listing all of the tasks that our Area Director of Finance accomplish would be lengthy but the list below is essential to know.

 

The purpose of this position is to supervise, support, and co-ordinates the following activities for the Beverly Hills Hotel and Hotel Bel-Air:
 
•  Functions as the strategic financial business leader for a multi-property set-up.  As a member of the Executive Committee, the position champions, develops and implements property-wide strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the properties guests and employees


•  The position provides the financial expertise to enable the successful implementation of the service standards and brand initiatives while maximizing the return on investment to the owners and Dorchester Collection


•  Recommend and play an integral part in the development of standard internal control systems and to assist with the implementation of internal control systems, policies, procedures, and technology


•  Conduct regular Balance Sheet Reviews, ensure accuracy, and work to minimize balances when logical


•  Recommend and assist in the design, implementation, and use of methods and procedures that improve the accuracy of working schedules, forecasts, plans, and budgets in the hotel, working with operational management and the Executive Committee in the hotel


•  Responsible for the analysis and interpretation of the financial data and communication to the Dorchester Collection VP Finance, Regional Director and Area General Manager, and Hotel Bel-Air General Manager


•  Act as a financial advisor and business partner to the Regional Director and Area General Manager; provide ongoing recommendations and analysis in attempt to improve balance scorecard results


•  Monitor, approve, and recommend capital expenditures in accordance with Dorchester Collection policies and procedures


•  Maintain and ensure compliancy of all licenses, permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements and proper execution of operational taxes and provide assistance in ensuring compliance

 

•  Direct preparation of annual budgets and weekly forecasts; articulate fluctuations of the forecasts to the Executive teams

•  Lead and manage the finance team fostering an environment of open collaboration while focusing on continuous improvement and excellence

What you'll bring

• 10+ years of senior financial management experience with increasing responsibilities for multi-faceted direction and planning


• Experience partnering with an Executive team


• Excellent leadership, keen decision-making, and organizational skills required


• Effective communication skills, in both written and verbal form


• Strong analytical skills


• Masters in Business Administration required - extensive knowledge of business methods, financial procedures, accounting and auditing practices/systems, and computerized database financial management applications


• Extensive experience in accounting in accordance with U.S. General Accepted Accounting Principles; Prior California experience is strongly recommended.  


• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-conscious environment with rapidly changing priorities


• Comfortable and agile with learning new systems and processes


• Must have a team-oriented, “roll up your sleeves” mindset, willing to get involved in the detail as needed


• Prior experience with building, growing, and cultivating a team and business with aggressive growth plans
