Position Overview

To assist the Global Director of Communications (GDOC), to manage Dorchester Collection’s social media accounts, and to support the corporate communications and the hotel communications teams in their daily activities.


Essential Functions & Physical Requirements

·         Help devise and execute social media strategy (including seasonal campaigns) for the brand

·         Help create and curate high quality content for social media channels (brand and hotels)

·         Community manage all brand social media channels, responding to guest, travel agent, supplier, recruitment, and media and influencer enquiries in a timely manner, covering evenings, weekends and holiday periods at times of crisis and where necessary

·         Monitor all hotel social media channels, providing timely feedback and advice

·         Maintain and continually enhance social media guidelines and playbook

·         Liaise with the Chinese social media agency to ensure quality and consistency of channels (Weibo and WeChat)

·         Build and maintain a network of digital influencers

·         Strategically boost posts and align with the e-commerce department on their paid social strategy

·         Work with marketing and graphics department to create social media assets, and fulfill design, print and photo requests such as press invites

·         Provide corporate and hotel teams with industry updates, latest and emerging channel news and influencer activity

·         Assist in collection of materials from the hotels for internal magazine, Stars, and for in-room magazine, Collect

·         Fact check content for Stars and Collect, and any other relevant materials along with the GDOC and communications manager (GCM)

·         Prepare the monthly internal email newsletter, VOX, on global communications updates

·         Liaise with the individual hotels on media and influencer accommodation requests

·         Support GCM with press agency liason, joining monthly update calls and distributing information to hotel teams

·         Assist in arranging the annual communications forum and meetings, and present on social media updates to the hotel communications teams and communications agencies

·         Assist with creating PowerPoint presentations for global GDOC and GCM

·         Help enforce the brand standards with the communications agencies and hotel DOCs

·         Be present at Dorchester Collection PR-related filming and photographic requests when required

·         Keep the media and partner databases updated

·         Draft agenda points and meeting minutes when appropriate, and distribute to relevant bodies

·         Take on the duties of the communications coordinator when they are out of the office and when additional support is needed such as media centre and intranet updates, checking the generic communications inbox, saving press cuttings, processing invoices, sending parcels, etc.

Qualifications and Desirables

·         Knowledge of social media strategy is essential and high end luxury hotel market is an asset

·         Relevant diploma or degree in communications, social media or hotel management an asset but not essential

·         Preferably previous experience in a fast moving, dynamic environment in communications


Functional Skills, Knowledge


·         Strong social media skills (technical including ROI and content)

·         Strong communication and visual skills, and a professional telephone manner

·         Capacity to read situations and respond accordingly when dealing with communications agencies, the media/public and senior management

·         A strong command of both written and spoken English is required; additional languages an asset

·         Competent MS Office skills

·         Knowledge of the requirements of a strong, growing brand and its key target audiences

·         Needs to be a self-starter and have initiative

·         Based at Dorchester Collection corporate office in London; current eligibility to work in the UK
