Position Overview

SUMMARY: 

Transport guest luggage to and from guest rooms. Escort the guest to their accommodations and inform them of all hotel services and features.  Responsible for attending to immediate needs of each guest upon arrival and follow through attention throughout their stay.  Thorough knowledge of all hotel services and amenities and to practice aggressive hospitality.

 

Essential Functions & Physical Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English and any foreign language with the guests and visitors, management and co-workers to their fullest understanding.

  • Ability to provide legible communication and directions.
  • Ability to understand guest inquiries and provide responses.
  • Ability to input and access data in hotel computer systems.
  • Ability to focus attention on the guest’s needs with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and to make good judgments.
  • Ability to work well under pressure of arriving and departing guests 
  • Ability to input and access data in hotel computer systems.
  • Ability to exert physical effort in placing and removing guest luggage to and from the guest rooms and bell closet storage areas.
  • Ability to remain stationary at an assigned post for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to ensure security of guestroom access at all and in all particular situations.
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.

Qualifications and Desirables

EDUCATIONAL AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
High School diploma o General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide by 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
